What should be paid attention to during conveyor belt installation and commissioning?
This applies whether replacing a conveyor belt on a belt conveyor or reinstalling a belt on a new drive system.
1. Disconnect the power to the belt conveyor, remove the protective cover, and loosen the motor mounting bolts. Move the motor to completely loosen the conveyor belt so that it can be removed without prying. Do not pry the conveyor belt!
2. Remove the old conveyor belt and check for any abnormal damage. Excessive damage may indicate problems with the drive system design or maintenance.
3. Select a suitable conveyor belt for replacement.
4. Clean the conveyor belt and pulleys. Use a small amount of volatile liquid to wipe the belt with a cloth, or soak the cloth in a cleaning agent or wipe the belt with a cleaning agent; using sandpaper or sharp objects to remove oil and stains is clearly not advisable. The conveyor belt must be kept dry before installation and use.
5. Check the belt conveyor pulleys for any abnormal damage and ensure they are straight and symmetrical. Straight and symmetrical pulleys are crucial for the operation of the conveyor belt drive system.
6. Check other drive system components of the belt conveyor, such as bearing and bushing symmetry and proper lubrication.
7. Install the new conveyor belt onto the belt conveyor pulleys without prying or using excessive force.
8. Tighten the center distance of the belt conveyor drive system until the tension gauge measures the correct conveyor belt tension. Rotate the drive pulley two turns by hand and remeasure the tension.
9. Tighten the motor mounting bolts and correct the torque distance. Since any change in the center distance of rotating equipment will lead to poor conveyor belt performance, it is essential to ensure that all rotating equipment components are tightened.
10. Although adjusting the tension of the conveyor belt is not necessary, it is recommended to start the device, observe the performance of the conveyor belt, check for abnormal vibrations, and listen carefully for any unusual noises. It's best to turn off the machine and inspect the bearings and motor; if it feels too hot, it could be due to a conveyor belt that's too tight, misaligned bearings, or poor lubrication.
